Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to review my site. My aim to to raise awareness that undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or the 'Masking' of Autism (ASD) can have wide ranging imacts on children and adults.  They may go through life coping with, and trying to understand their differences. This constant mental struggle can result in adverse mental health outcomes.

My mission has been inspired by my son. Do you know someone who is struggling with communication, social interactions, their sense of identity? Are they having trouble making friends?

Mild Autism can present with no apparent problems in intelligence, speech, and learning. Eccentric and unique charactar traits can often be explained away by parents and friends. Children and adults can struggle mentally to fit in with others. Not identifying their issues or misdiagnosing their behaviour as something else can result in extreme psychological distress which the individual may try to conceal by various coping mechanisms - further adding to their mental load. Parents and Medical Professionals need to increase their awarenes of mild Autistic traits, identify them early, so children have the opportunity to know and understand themselves, while being supported toward their journey into Adulthood.

My Story

Having worked for many years as a Medical Professional, I have a keen interest in Science, Research, and a determination to find out the "How, and Why" of my chosen topic. I am also a Parent, who has spent many years attempting to understand my teenage son's behaviour. The facts were, that he struggled for many years with his mental health, concealing his emotions and issues due to embarrassment and shame. A heavy toll was to pay for his ongoing struggle, and when a diagnosis was evident, the erosion of his mental health had reached its end. As a Parent and for someone with a medical background keen on finding answers, I have spent considerable time researching Medical literature to uncover the consequences of a late Autism diagnosis and identify coping strategies, which if they had been noticed early, could have changed the outcome. My hope in doing this, and the reason for my website, is to alert others which may be in a similar sitution, and have a loved one that is desperately needing help.   I am not an expert on Autism, but if this story resonates with you, please investigate the information on my site, think about your own situation and seek help for those you love.

Don't leave it till it is too late.
